Perhaps Robert believes in the idea that you keep your friends close and your enemy closer. 2. Robert is the father of Ned and Jerry is the father of Sam. (just a guess) 3. ? 4. Jerry does not tell Robert about Sam falling off the bike because he is not Sam's father so it probably would not matter to him. 5. ? 6. Yes 7. Perhaps it is symbolic of the freedom that he feels when he is with Emma. Most of these answers are just possible solutions/observations. Does anyone really know why people do the things they do?
